A piece of plastic that adorns the front windshield snapped off and it needs new suspension bushings and engine mounts, adding up to a grand total of $2130. It only has 18k miles.

oh my god, engine mounts and suspension bushings at 18K miles...

That is awful...please tell me you somehow went off-roading and this isn't manufacturer build quality!

That was my thought - engine mounts at 18K? /warranty time.

I don't blame Citroen, road quality here does that to most cars.

Stuff like that shouldn't happen in a modern car

Engine mounts should be 150,000 miles earliest. Unless there's been some sort of accident. Or unless your car was made by beginners.

Hey, when did the C5 turn into a nice car? I must have missed that. I remember these:

Doesn't the warranty transfer?

Yes, but it ended in 2013.

Here's what I suggest if you haven't already - call a dealer and ask if there's a TSB (technical service bulletin) about the mounts. That's where there's not a recall, but you can make them fix it if you catch them. Slim hope, but ....

Kinja'd!!! Steve in Manhattan > My citroen won't start

And they should be embarrassed ... I don't care what the road quality is, a modern car should be able to take it. There, I said it.

I must have hit some potholes, I don't know, modern French I4 engines eat engine mounts too, my Renault Megane Estate did the same thing, but with 45k miles.

The TSB is a long shot, but you never know. Or just throw yourself on the mercy of the dealership. I got a couple things fixed on my 300D out of warranty because the service manager liked me - there were many times I could have been an asshole, but wasn't. And they remember .... And in the 80s, most Mercedes owners were assholes.

Might try that, doubt it will work but I'll try. I'm never an asshole with people that are taking care of my things, especially things that I like.

Got Toyota/dealer to split cost of gearbox rebuild when 2nd gear dropped out on '88 Camry wagon. Had to take service manager for a ride to make him understand I knew how to drive a stick. 2nd went at 61K (just outside of warranty) on a car where I had yet to replace the clutch. I was very polite, but persistent. $1200 of my money later, I had a new 5 speed gearbox.

Where the heck do you live?

I know someone who bought a C5 wagon (new I think). He only had troubled with it iirc and he sold it and bought an A5 instead.

I'll talk to them about it, I've taken my Citroens to that same dealership since I had my first car, so they know me pretty well, engine mounts on a 18k mile car is absurd.
